Technical Operations Associate/Officer (IT role) (EU)

Anywhere. US and EU timezones preferred. Full-time Allows remote

The Technical Operations Associate/Officer is a technical generalist with strong IT support and system maintenance skills. This position will work with over 100 staff in over 35 countries to ensure the campaigning work of Avaaz happens on reliable, secure systems with maximum mission-serving up-time. Duties include managing operational infrastructure, technical onboarding/offboarding, staff security support and optimizing internal systems for greater efficiency.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage operational infrastructure such as VPN setups, Google Suite accounts, Avaaz admin and various software licenses
  • Technical onboarding and offboarding of staff by assisting in account setup, hardware inventories and general troubleshooting
  • Provide IT support for issues with equipment, software, mobile devices, account access, etc.
  • Individual security support and response plans, endpoint management of staff devices, encrypted email and phone support
  • Setup and troubleshoot wireless networks at retreat venues, manage AV equipment, recordings and other technical needs
  • Manage organizational knowledge systems to ensure technical documentation is organized and up-to-date for maximum efficiency
  • General technical support to staff and campaigns

Optional responsibilities

  • Scripting and data automation support for Operations team workload
  • Project management to implement 3rd party tools, database implementations, HR systems, receipt reimbursement systems, etc.


  • 2-3 years experience in an IT support/helpdesk role with end-user facing support
  • Intermediate to expert level experience using Macs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Extremely detail-oriented, conscientious, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions and requirements in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice.



  • Knowledge of digital security best practices
  • HTML/CSS and some JavaScript capability
  • Software development project management
  • Experience using Google admin/Google Suite
  • Basic scripting skills using Excel macros, sql or other reporting tools
  • Office wifi and network administration



Avaaz is a virtual organization, with most of our work done over email, telephone and Skype. Our staff are based in cities all over the world and meet at team retreats twice per year. This position will be based in the US east coast time zone to support our EU and Americas staff. Western Europe may work for the right candidate.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary varies with experience, but is highly competitive with leading non-governmental organisations. Benefits also range with location, but include 5 weeks paid vacation per year.
