Poland is one of the key countries where we want to expand our activity and mobilize over 4 million Avaaz members.

As a Campaigns Consultant you will develop and run national and regional campaigns that mobilize Avaaz community, oversee our communications in Polish, as well as continue and expand our climate campaign work on the ground with government bodies, officials, corporations, NGOs, influencers and media. 

This will be your main priority, but Avaaz's open campaigning culture allows for anyone in the team to share their ideas and work on the broader global campaign if their capacity allows.

Responsibilities include

  • Spotting, developing and implementing strong Avaaz campaigns, especially the ones that matter to our members in Poland.
  • Overseeing Avaaz communication in Polish, which includes working with a translator to coordinate work for each campaign and project, occasionally translating and setting up all relevant materials for the Avaaz website and emails; overseeing correspondence with Avaaz members as well as community petitions started on the Avaaz Community Petitions site.
  • Identifying opportunities of civil society common actions, managing partnerships and other types of engagement with government, private and public sector targets;
  • Drafting compelling advocacy and media materials and other communications.

Qualifications

This is a challenging role that requires high trust, hard work, flexibility, good judgment, initiative and an ability to deliver results. The core competencies which any successful candidate will display are:

  • Professionalism, efficiency and results-oriented delivery on short timelines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to draft compelling communications, especially in Polish.
  • Passion and commitment to global justice, citizen empowerment and social change.
  • Strong teamwork skills, comfortable in a highly collaborative team culture and a hierarchical team structure.
  • Strong strategic and creative thinking as well as campaign planning skills.
  • Tech savvy.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required, along with native-level Polish. Fluency in other languages is an advantage.

We are open to this position being a part-time or full time position, depending on the candidate. 

Location

Avaaz is a virtual organization, with most of our work done over email, Google docs, telephone, and Skype. Our staff are based in cities all over the world. For this position, the candidate would ideally be based in Poland.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary varies with location and experience, and is highly competitive with leading international nongovernmental organizations. Specific benefits also range with location, but all full time positions include 5 weeks paid vacation per year, 10 paid holidays, phone and home internet reimbursement, out-of-home office/co-working reimbursement, and professional development funds.
